Ballet Caraïbes Summer Dance & Culture Enrichment Camp is an exciting, inclusive, and culturally rich summer enrichment program in Northside Cincinnati designed for boys and girls, pre-teens, and teens. This vibrant camp blends dance, Afro-Caribbean cultural enrichment, storytelling, music, literacy, recreation, and creative exploration in a welcoming, community-centered environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

Participants will explore a variety of dance styles each week while developing skills in ballet, modern/contemporary dance, Afro-Caribbean dance, and creative movement. Campers will also engage in rhythm and musical exploration, arts and crafts, storytelling, cultural traditions, creative play, and performing arts experiences that foster creativity, coordination, confidence, teamwork, and self-expression.

Our signature DanceRead and DancePlay programs connect reading, storytelling, imaginative play, and movement, creating engaging learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and joyful participation. Whether a child is an experienced dancer or new to movement, every camper is encouraged to explore, discover, and express themselves through the arts.

We also honor the understanding that every child comes to the camp with their own cultural identity, family traditions, and lived experiences. At Ballet Caraïbes, culture is not only something we learn about—it is something we all carry.

​

Campers are encouraged to share elements of their own heritage, traditions, languages, stories, music, and family practices in age-appropriate and respectful ways. These exchanges help children recognize that everyone has a culture, and that our differences and similarities are what make our community rich and vibrant.

​

Through guided creative activities, storytelling, and movement exploration, children learn to see their own culture reflected in the arts while gaining appreciation for the cultures of others. This builds a strong sense of belonging, mutual respect, and curiosity across the group, fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated and every child feels seen, valued, and included.

In addition to dance and cultural activities, campers will enjoy select outdoor enrichment experiences and community-based activities connected to the nearby McKie Recreation area, including sprinkler play, playground time, movie day, and picnic gatherings in Northside park spaces. Optional pool day experiences and additional recreational activities may also be offered. Additional enrichment opportunities may include library visits and storytelling programs, community arts experiences, guest artists, and creative field trips . Parent-paid admission or amenity fees may apply for certain recreation or special activities.

The Summer Dance & Culture Enrichment Camp culminates in a special showcase celebrating each participant’s growth in creativity, movement, cultural awareness, collaboration, performance skills, and self-confidence.
