Caribbean Body Movement & Mobility Foundations™

Caribbean Body Movement & Mobility Foundations™
Learn how the body moves before asking it to dance.

And its job is to develop the Caribbean movement vocabulary:

ISOLATE → ARTICULATE → MOBILIZE → COORDINATE → FLOW → EXPRESS

Spine • Hips • Rhythm • Elasticity • Expression

Movement is a lifelong practice. At Ballet Caraïbes, we believe adults of every age deserve opportunities to move with confidence, strength, flexibility, and joy.

Caribbean Body Movement & Mobility Foundations™ explores the unique movement qualities found throughout Caribbean dance traditions while supporting healthy mobility, body awareness, and expressive movement.

Through guided exploration of the spine, hips, torso, and full body coordination, participants develop greater ease, control, rhythm, and confidence in their movement.

This program is designed for adults of all experience levels—from beginners discovering Caribbean movement for the first time to experienced dancers seeking deeper connection, technique, and body awareness.

What You Will Explore

Spinal Mobility & Fluidity

The spine is central to expressive movement. Participants learn to develop greater awareness and mobility through:

  • Spinal articulation

  • Gentle waves and spirals

  • Torso mobility

  • Ribcage movement

  • Release and relaxation through the back

  • Coordination between the spine, ribs, and hips

These movements support posture, ease of movement, and greater freedom through the body.

Hip Mobility & Waistline Movement

Caribbean movement celebrates the connection between rhythm, the pelvis, and the whole body.

Participants explore:

  • Hip mobility and flexibility

  • Pelvic awareness and control

  • Waistline movement foundations

  • Hip circles and figure-eight patterns

  • Isolations and coordination

  • Connection between lower and upper body movement

The focus is on understanding body mechanics, developing confidence, and discovering how movement naturally flows through the body.

Elasticity & Body Resilience

As the body changes throughout life, maintaining mobility and strength becomes increasingly important.

Through rhythmic movement and mobility exercises, participants develop:

  • Joint mobility

  • Flexibility

  • Balance

  • Strength through range of motion

  • Coordination

  • Body awareness

  • Movement confidence

This approach supports adults who want to remain active, expressive, and connected to their bodies at every stage of life.

Caribbean Rhythm & Movement Expression

Caribbean movement is deeply connected to music, culture, and community.

Participants explore:

  • Rhythm and musicality

  • Grounded movement

  • Circular movement patterns

  • Angular articulation

  • Body isolations

  • Call-and-response movement

  • Personal expression and confidence

Movement becomes a way to connect with music, culture, and personal creativity.
